What is the best brand/type of ear buds to get?

I’m looking for something with awesome sound and that will stay in your ears. i was happy with skullcandy ink’d, but they hurt my ears and wouldn’t stay in. How much better is the sound quality with headphones than ear buds, and what kind of headphones would u recommend?

i still really love the big skull candy headphones, but they can be over 100 dollars. right now i have a pair of phillips headphones. not sure what theyre called but theyre really nice and are the kind that goes behind the head.
